Detailed information about the winners’ concert will be emailed to the winners after January 15, 2020.

 

Repertoire & Eligibility

Auditions are open to instrumentalists (piano, strings, winds), vocalists and chamber ensembles. Winners of the competition will perform one piece, selected by the judges from the participant’s audition repertoire. Auditions are open to instrumentalists, vocalists, and ensembles of all nationalities and are divided into the following age categories:

People

A. 6-10 years of age
B. 11-14 years of age
C. 15-18 years of age
D. college students
E. amateur adults

 

AFAF would like to announce a more general competition and Russian music competition dedicated to all Russian music, to include composers from the Soviet Era.
The audition/performance repertoire for the competition is not limited to original works and may include arrangements
The age and repertoire requirements are same as above and participants are invited to present any work (or movement of a work) by a notable Russian/Soviet composer for solo instrument, voice or chamber ensemble. The length of the audition/performance for Russian music competition program should not exceed 7 minutes.

Please note that multiple winners may be chosen in each age group. Other special prizes may be awarded based on judges’ recommendations.

 

How to apply

Applicants must submit a DVD or VHS of their audition performance, along with a completed Application Form and a non-refundable application fee
• The recording must be clearly labeled on the outside with your name.
• The length of the audition program should not exceed 7 minutes.
• The recording must be free of background noise and distortion.
• Please note that due to the large number of submissions, audition tapes/DVDs will not be reviewed or returned.

Deadline

Applications and audition DVDs/VHSs must be postmarked no later than November 5, 2020. Audition results will be announced on our website in November 25, 2020. Please note that due to the large number of submissions, audition tapes/DVDs will not be reviewed or returned.
