Golden Voices of America Competition 2024

Golden Voices of America, which debuted in 2009 under the auspices of the American Fine Arts Festival, is an international vocal competition that takes place in New York City. Golden Voices of America is intended for vocalists who would like to challenge themselves by competing on a highly selective level in voice competition. The winners of this vocal competition perform at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall and at Bruno Walter Auditorium at Lincoln Center.

Participation in a Winner’s Recital at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall.

  • Concert Dates: TBA

  • Recital Fee: $450. This fee includes participation in the concert.

  • Certificate of Excellence and Diploma of Recognition for the teacher.

  • Five complimentary tickets, 4 digital pictures.

  • The Recital fee for ensembles is $350/per person.

How to Apply

Applicants interested in participating in Golden Voices of America 2024 must submit a recording of their audition performance, along with a completed application form and a non-refundable application fee

The recording (YouTube link) must be high quality.

  • Audition and performance pieces must not exceed 5 minutes.

  • CD recordings are not acceptable.

  • The recording must be clearly labeled on the outside with your name.

  • The recording must be free of background noise with an appropriate balance between voice(s) and accompaniment.

Repertoire & Eligibility

Participants may perform one or several pieces from one or both categories of our recommended repertoire or they may choose their own program as long as it fits into the framework provided by our list of recommendations. Audition and performance pieces in a voice competition must not exceed 5 minutes. Participation in Golden Voices of America 2023 is open to vocalists of all nationalities, as well as vocal duets, trios, quartets and other vocal groups, in the following age categories:

Winners of the competition will perform one piece , selected by the judges from the contestants audition repertoire

People

A. 6-8 years of age
B. 9-10 years of age
C. 11-12 years of age
D. 13-15 years of age
E. 16-18 years of age
F. Adult

 

And the following repertoire categories:

  • Category 1: Classical/Folk/Traditional

  • Category 2: Musical Theater/Disney/Broadway/Jazz

Accompaniment

Participants in the AFAF Golden Voices of America 2024 are encouraged to secure their own accompanists. If you are not able to secure an accompanist, the AFAF can provide an accompanist for a fee. Please check the appropriate box on your application form if you would like to request an accompanist..

Application Fees

The application fee for auditions in a single repertoire category is $250. The application fee for vocal duets, trios and quartets is $150 per person. For vocal groups with five or more members, the application fee is $100 per person. Please note that a single application fee covers an audition in one repertoire category only, so if you’re planning on auditioning in both repertoire categories, please make sure to enclose an appropriate application fee.

Deadline

Applications and audition recordings (YouTube link) must be postmarked no later than December 15, 2024. Audition results will be announced on our website on January 25, 2025.
